Statewide Outreach and Support Network
For Artists
The mission of VSA North Fourth Art Center is to nurture and celebrate the
creative spirit of people of all abilities through education, outreach,
exhibits and performances. North Fourth Art Center is operated by VSA arts
of New Mexico, affiliated with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing
Arts. Back in September 2002, VSA NM and New Mexico Arts hosted Careers by Design, a forum on careers in the arts for people with disabilities. Close to 200 artists, presenters,
gallery owners and arts administrators came together in Albuquerque to explore the
potential for careers in the arts for people with disabilities in our state. The VSA Statewide Network for artists is a
response to the needs expressed by artists attending that event.
What VSA has to offer now:
The VSA arts of New Mexico web site is being re-designed to contain a
VSA Gallery in which artists with disabilities and collaborating organizations
are invited to post samples of work, artist statements or biographical information, and
contact information for purchasing work. Links
to the national VSA arts site and the National Art and Disability Center connect New
Mexico artists with an international network of artists, buyers and patrons. There is no charge for posting information on this
site.
VSA arts is able to serve as a fiscal
agent for artists
needing a non-profit to facilitate grant projects.
VSAs North Fourth Art Center is quickly realizing the vision of
its founders in becoming a fully accessible community center for the arts. Space is available for artist meetings, classes
and other usage late afternoons, evenings and weekends.
Add your contact information to our
mailing list to receive
information of interest to artists from the local and national VSA arts organizations.
